ash line

Is based on the reduced elements of line, curve, and movement. Using Wood ash on paper the diameter of the brush sweep is my body height. I work flat on the floor. The brush scratches the paper leaving a faint history of marks beneath the ash curve suggesting archaeology of human presence. The ash is gathered into a line creating a sense of place, human intervention, and a division of time.

Thanks to Neil Robinson for permission to use photography, Line and Curve and Ash
